Rimfire Benchrest Shooting and Competition

I Just discovered today that there is a 'World Rimfire Benchrest Federation' and here is a screenshot of their Home Page:

World Rimfire Benchrest Federation Participating Countries
Looking at the site , It seems a little pre-millennium in terms of layout and design / quality, also the competition results page was last updated in 2011 so unless they only post results the following year ie: 2012 results posted on site in 2013 then I reckon it is safe to say they have possibly disbanded?
Considering that they had 18 countries from 5 Continents interested in competing in a world wide event means that this should definitely be something running year on year so I honestly hope it is still ongoing.
I have tried using the ''contact us'' page but it tries to automatically connect to an email client program such as MS Outlook which I do not operate and therefore cannot get in touch with these people as I am highly interested to find out more! We really need alternative shooting competitions in the UK and worldwide but I emphasise the UK as the local scene is almost purely concentrating on Target Rifle shooting and not much on standard original rifle shooting ( LSR ) as is more common worldwide.

Searching clubs nationwide, I hardly see the options for LSR ( Light Sporting Rifle ) shooters to fire either competitively or for fun in Prone or Benchrest positions, we, as a small but important shooting community in the UK should show our support for these organisations and their ventures to open up more shooting disciplines to the scene!

Happily there is a UK site also who are linked to the above Federation and they have placed dates for upcoming 2013 events which is great news!

UK Air Rifle & Rimfire Benchrest Shooting Assoc.
Sadly they have the same ''contact us'' system whereby you cannot get into contact with them unless you have an email client like MS Outlook so will have to wait for one of them or their members to comment here so we can have a chat.

In the meantime, I have obtained some practice targets in PDF form so will be posting them on a ''Downloads'' Page at the top in the coming days for those interested in trying it out.

Perhaps you can persuade your local UK shooting club to facilitate the requirements for this discipline if they do not already have the correct facilities in order to grow the sport as a whole.

An idea into Rimfire Club shooting disciplines in the UK:

Target Rifle .22LR Prone (most common)
.22LR LSR ( Light Sporting Rifle ) Prone Position (rare)

.22LR LSR Standing Position (common in LSR shooting UK)
.22LR LSR Benchrest (Quite Rare in LSR but common in Target Rifle Shooting)

In conclusion lets hope the disciplines of Prone as well as Benchrest will be offered in most or all rifle clubs nationwide at some point, if we wish to keep the sport growing even if steadily we need to stay open minded to keep the newer generations interested! Not everyone fancies having to buy a £500 special jacket, rifle worth thousands, straps, unusual hats and eye covers (required gear for Target Rifle Shooting)
